I can’t attest to its accuracy since I have no standard by which to judge it. I bought it to test the acidity of my soil. It was extremely easy to use and very easy to read. Assuming it was accurate, I have left my lawn unamended and increased the acidity around my azaleas and rhododendrons. For now, I am quite happy with this soil tester.

Wanted a Ph tester for my yard. This one seemed reasonable. I don’t have an actual soil test to test against but the moisture meter appears to be very accurate and got higher the closer I got to sprinkler heads or known low spots in the yard. This may not be 100% accurate for say a golf course but for the home user should do it’s job.

For those of you who enjoy container gardening but dread the bugs you may encounter when you poke your fingers in the pots to check soil moisture this is a MUST for you! I have A LOT of containers, many of which contain Japanese maples where maintaining a slightly moist and acidic soil is essential, and this has solved the testing problems. The testing spikes are long enough to go into the planters to test the ph balance, and reads equally accurate when testing the top layers for moisture; both are easily achieved with the flip of a simple mounted switch. (You must remove the tester and clean it between ph and moisture tests for best accuracy.) I also use it for my inground plants with the same positive results. The ONLY drawback I found is that the meter detail is quite small making it a bit difficult and awkward to read; however, for the price and the convenience of being able to test for moisture, ph and light all in one implement this is a great product.

I went and purchased this soil meter based on other customer reviews. It works just as described, I’m no plant expert, this meter helps me keep my plants in check when they need water, light, fertilizer, etc. It’s easy to use, I would recommend this item to non-green-thumb folk like myself. 🙂

I gave 5 stars because the parts of the soil tester I can verify were correct. I bought this to check the ph in my lawn and garden. I can’t confirm the accuracy of the ph. However, I am confident it is correct based on where moss is growing.

This is so useful. I mainly use it for checking the moisture level and soil and it goes into a depth equal to any food plant I grow. It’s quick, it’s easy, it saves me having to dig down two four or six inches to manually take a look at and feel the soil. I will on rare occasions use it to check the pH and if so nice to be able to do something this quick rather than have to do a soil test myself but would take a samples and letting it dry and then running the test. I can do this in seconds. I can’t attest to the accuracy of the pH cuz I haven’t compared it but it seems like a good instrument. The Sunshine part I haven’t used very much at all so I can’t say much about it. I very much like the this requires no batteries because it works off of bimetals. The only negative I’ve had is the dial while being nice and compact as also relatively tough to read for my older eyes. But I’ve pretty much memorized the range that I expect to see for needs water, doesn’t need water and oh my God it’s soaked. A really good product and I’m very happy with the price. I’m looking for some sort of case to protect it although right now I’m using the box that came in. Too long probes a pretty strong but I would feel better if when I put it in with my other gardening tools it was in a case. I’d pay more if it came with a case.

Well, it works! I needed to test the soil for my roses, as some are doing great and others, not so much! Astonishing to see how different soil is in the very same yard! Found most needed to have lime added to make the soil proper for blooming roses. THen I tested soil for other plants, after researching what their PH should be. This works great! Easy and instant. Best of all, no batteries needed!
